This chapter begins with Sergeant Clay in his home helping his wife get dinner ready. It was the weekly barbecue weekend for Clay and his wife Jamie, Eric who is Clay's brother and his wife Laura and the Reynolds who are just back together after a difficult time. Their children are all over the place having fun.
Alex walks in quite late and blames it on traffic,he came over with Bo who was outside tied by the porch.
Dinner begins and conversations go on and on until the events of 11th September 2001 are brought up. It would seem as if the events of that day had a positive bearing in the lives of Clay and his friends.
But as we know that's a sore spot for our main man Alex. He excuses himself to checkup on Bo, comes back after getting a hold of himself, everyone tries to cheer him up, his recent award is brought up and somehow leads to Alex asking questions and making suggestions about a case of an activist group that was thought dangerous. Clay as Alex's superior doesn't feel okay with the turn of the conversation to work, he makes this known to Alex and also urged him to trust the process.
What I noticed from this Chapter is that Alex's countenance upon hearing about the September 11th events cleared shows he hasn't moved on. And Clay's friends shouldn't have brought up the events knowing how it makes their buddy Alex feel
Chapter 3 would definitely make the situation clearer than it currently is
... stay on!
